LCMS World Missions

Korea – Nov. 16-30
The LCMS began mission work in Korea in 1958. In 1971, the Lutheran Church in Korea (LCK) became an LCMS partner church. Today, the LCK is home to more than 5,800 members in about 40 congregations.

Remember Korea as you pray:
that the Lutheran Church in Korea continues to be Ablaze! The LCK has set a long-term goal of expanding its church body to 500 congregations by its centennial anniversary in 2058.

for Luther University (LTU) in Yongin City, which has been training young men for the pastoral ministry since 1964. Today, it has an enrollment of about 500 students.

with thanksgiving for LTU’s new educational programs. The university will add Counseling, Performing Arts, Geriatric Welfare, Language Therapy, and English to their current degree offerings of Theology and Social Work. As a result, the university plans to increase class sizes from 50 new students per year to about 200 new students per year.

for the Lifelong Education Center at LTU. This education and outreach center offers English and other classes to people in the local community, many of whom are not Christians. Pray that the Holy Spirit would work through the witness of LTU’s English teachers.

for LCMS missionary Karla Konrad, who serves at LTU as an English-as-a-Foreign-Language teacher. Pray that God would bless the relationships with her students and that she would have many opportunities to share the love and truth of Jesus.

that God would provide more teachers who are willing to come to Korea to serve as missionaries at LTU.

for LCMS missionaries Patrick and Jennifer O’Neal and their children John, Grace, and James. Patrick is the strategic mission developer for North Asia, and Jennifer serves as a missionary to the South Korean people. Ask God to bless their work and partnership with the LCK as they reach out to the people of Korea.
